Free Downloadable Resource for Prospective Grad Students

It is about that time of year…

The time when you start to organize all of your thoughts and research potential programs. With most graduate school admission deadlines in early to mid-spring, I get the search process can be daunting, and unless you have someone who has experienced it too, it can often feel like you’re doing it on your own. Well, Cap & Co., my new LLC helping to educate, encourage and empower students and their villages, wants to help!

Our project manager, Michelle, an aspiring grad student herself, played an instrumental role in the design of this resource. Here’s the FREE downloadable spreadsheet to get you started below. Simply leave us your name and email and we’ll keep you posted on upcoming resources, too.

What Next?

The above spreadsheet was specifically cultivated to be a general overview of what you should be researching when looking at programs. Feel free to take this, make a copy to your own computer, and add/delete sections as you see fit. In addition, keep these questions in mind while you research:

  1. Why do you want to go to grad school? Always come back to this why.

  2. What type of program do you want to apply to?

  3. Do you want to go back full- or part-time? How long are you willing to commit?

  4. Where do you hope to see yourself after graduating? (Make sure you look at where current students and/or graduates of the program work to see if any align with your career goals!)

  5. What are your non-negotiables? Is it the location, schedule (evening classes vs. weekends), a cohort model, etc.?

  6. How many schools do you want to apply to? How many of those will be in your safety bucket, target, and/or aspirational?

  7. How much are you setting aside for applications? (Think about the following costs: standardized testing (i.e. GRE, LSAT, MCAT) fees, costs to send standardized test scores, potential visit/interview weekends, and more).

This is just the start.
